Junior Futsal Sign-On!
Good news: JUNIOR FUTSAL will go ahead!!
The Futsal Committee has received some helpers (thanks Christine & Rae!) so we are now able to have Junior Futsal sign-on as well as Mixed Open team sign-on tomorrow Monday 17 September at the Sports Complex from 4pm – 6pm.
We could still use extra volunteers, especially for the 9 – 11 Junior age group – please let us know at sign-on if you can help.

Futsal Sign-on Monday 17 September
Welcome to the 2018/2019 Summer Futsal Season!
Sign-on for the MIXED OPEN AGE GROUP ONLY will be held at the Sports Complex, Coronation Drive on Monday 17 September from 4pm – 6pm.
The Open Comp will run for ONE NIGHT rather than two and we will NOT be able to offer a JUNIOR COMPETITION this season as we have very few committee members and unfortunately no new volunteers have come forward.
Open Mixed Team nominations will be accepted on a first-in-first-served basis: the first 6 to 8 teams to submit a full team at sign-on will be accepted. Each team must have at least two female players and players need to be 15 yrs plus.
We aim to kick-off the season in the first week of October/start of Term 4. Information regarding fees will be available at sign-on, payments can be made via Direct Deposit or Electronic Funds Transfer.

Pie Drive Fundraiser
Our first fundraiser for the year will be a Pie Drive with the pies freshly made and delivered from Smiffy’s Bakery, formerly known as the Kooralbyn Family Bakery. They are sure to have something to please everyone’s taste buds this winter!
Order forms have been emailed out but will also be available from your manager soon. If you didn’t get one, it can be downloaded here.
The orders, with payments, need be returned to the club house by Wednesday 4th July. The pies will be delivered to the club house Thursday 19th July 2018, with collection time advised closer to delivery.

2018 QCSA State Titles
Seven players from the Boonah Soccer Club and Fassifern Cobras Soccer Club were selected to represent West Zone teams in the QCSA State Titles held at Redbank Plains over the Labour Day long weekend.

It was great to see the Boonah Soccer Club and the Fassifern Cobras Soccer Club come together with Jay, George and Harry playing in the same U16 team.
Brad Reiser who played in junior teams for many seasons with the Boonah Soccer Club and now plays for Whitehill Soccer Club, played for U18 West and was selected for the U18 Queensland team – congratulations and good luck Brad!
They will all play again in their West Zone teams at the Sunshine Coast Cup on 14 July and the U11 & U13 teams will also play in Beaudesert at the Scenic Rim Cup in September.

Coaching Clinic Saturday 14 April
A free QCSA Coaching Clinic will be held on Saturday 14 April at Coronation Park starting at 9.000am.
The clinic will be run by the QCSA and coaches from U7 to U13 from the Boonah Soccer Club and the Fassifern Cobras Soccer Club are invited to attend.
The clinics will likely be in separate age groups: Discovery (U6 – U8), and Skill Acquisition (U9 – U13).

Get Started Vouchers opens 24 January
Round 11 of Get Started Vouchers opens on Wednesday 24 January 2018.
The program provides eligible children and young people aged 5 to 17 (inclusive) who can least afford to join a sport or recreation club with a voucher valued up to $150 for membership and/or registration fees. It should be noted that vouchers are issued on a first come, first served basis; therefore there is no guarantee that an eligible child or young/person will obtain a voucher.
The Boonah Soccer Club is a Get Stared registered club, get in quick for the 2018 season!

Brisbane Roar Opportunity for Kids
Exciting news!
The Brisbane Roar is offering kids from QCSA clubs the opportunity to be involved in two games to provide player mascots, centre circle mat kids, and half-time game kids.
They are still waiting on final confirmation of numbers for half-time games but in any event, the two games they have allocated are:
1. Thursday 18 January 2018
2. Sunday 4 February 2018
Players are needed for the following general age groups: Player Mascots (age 6 – 8), Centre Circle (age 12 – 15) and Half-time Games (age 7 – 9).

Help Needed for U9/10 Grand Final Sat 2 Sept!
Boonah Soccer Club has been selected to host the U9 and U10 West Zone Grand Finals. On Saturday 2nd of September.
This is a great opportunity for us to promote our club & also do a little fundraising.
We will need help to set up & pack up:
Fields 1 & 2 – Nets, Corners Posts, Banners, Sub Benches & Shade Tents [Approx 8] and Tables.
As well as volunteers to help Murray and June in the canteen.
- Set Up will start promptly at 7-00am (10 Adults Required)
- With the Canteen opening at 8-00am – 1-00pm – 1hr shifts (2 Adults per Shift)
- Pack Up will be after the last game finishes at 1-00pm (10 Adults Required)
“YOUR TIME NOT YOU MONEY IS REQUIRED” PLEASE the Committee need your assistance.

At the moment out of the entire Club, except for Committee, disappointingly we have had only 3 people put their names down to assist. Thank you to those 3 who have been in touch to get your names on the roster.

New Chairperson Needed for Futsal Sub-Committee
Due to family commitments Korin Worley is vacating the position of Futsal Chairperson.
Korin has held this position for 10 years! The Boonah Soccer & Futsal Club really appreciate all the hard work you have but in over the years – thank you Korin!!
How are we going to replace him? Please consider taking up this position so the Futsal Club can continue and Korin gets a well-deserved break!
We have a great committee in place to support the new Chairperson and Korin will still be involved in the Futsal Club as a player and/or referee and will be able to offer advice.
The Chairperson position must be filled before we can start the 2017/2018 Summer Season (sign-on scheduled for early September).

QLD Smoking Laws Apply to our Fields
To all our members, parents, caregivers and visitors – please abide by the Queensland Smoking Laws in relation to under 18 sporting venues.
The law protects our children and young people from the dangers of second-hand smoke. If you must smoke, please keep well away from designated areas (see below).
Smoking is banned within 10 metres of viewing and playing areas. The ban also applies during training sessions and at any intervals or breaks in play.
At our Coronation Park fields this is 10 metres from:
- the carpark bollards/barriers
- the grandstand
- the clubhouse
- warm up areas and spectator areas around the fields.
Fines apply to breaches of this law. Thank you for your cooperation.

Anzac Day March 25 April
The Boonah Soccer Club is marching on Tuesday 25 April in the Boonah Anzac Day March, we hope you can join us.
If you would like to march, meet us on Church Street at the Curry Hut Indian Takeway around 10.20am ready for the march to start at 10.40am followed by the service (optional) at 11.00am.
Please wear BSC training shirt or club shirt, blue shorts and club socks and follow the sun smart guidelines – BSC soccer cap (if you have one) hat & sunscreen.

We will be carting gear – we will need vehicles and volunteers to assist in carting training gear, nets etc from our shed to the complex and set it all up in the storeroom. From 8.30am.

We are still looking for kids to join our new Tiny Tots soccer group this season. We have now changed the age group, so if your child turns three or four in 2017 and they love to kick a ball, join up now. Best of all, there are no fees!!

Get Started Vouchers Round 9
Please read the email below received from the QLD Government:
Dear Boonah Soccer Club Inc,
To support more eligible children with getting a voucher from the Get Started Vouchers program, an additional allocation of vouchers will be made available for Round 9. The program will re-open for Get Started Vouchers applications at 9:15am on Friday, 24 February 2017 to eligible children and young people who have a valid Centrelink Health Care card or Pensioner Concession card.
Further details about this re-opening are available on the website at www.qld.gov.au/recreation/sports/funding/getinthegame/getstarted/.
Vouchers will remain available and distributed on a first come, first served basis. Once the allocation for vouchers is exhausted, the program will close and no further vouchers will be offered for Round 9.
Vouchers through the referral agent process have already been allocated to registered referral agents, and the department will be contacting them directly.

Muster Day 4 March 9.00am
The Muster Day will be held on Saturday 4 March at 9.00am at the Sports Complex, Coronation Park.
On this day, you will:
- find out which team your are in
- meet your team mates
- nominate a Coach & Manager for the team (if your team hasn’t already done so)
- organise which day your team is training
- pay registration fees (or via Direct Deposit)
- order a training shirt (last day for orders)*
It is important for all players and a parent/guardian to attend the muster day.

Referees Courses
Gordon Nicholson, the QCSRA Referees Coach, is running referees courses on the following two Saturdays: The first one on Saturday the 28 January 2017 and the second on the 4 February 2017. These are two separate courses, so only need to attend one or the other.
If you are interested in being a referee for 2017, please email Gordon at coach@qcsra.org.au in the first instance and he will then direct you to the relative web site to complete the On line Laws of the game exam and will send any other relevant information.
Members need to be a minimum age of turning 14 this year to attend the course.
Due to some people turning up, doing the course then not making payment QCSCRA has decided that in 2017 payment must be made prior to you attending the referees course. This will all be explained to you once you register with Gordon. Cost is $77 per person (including GST).

U10 Gold Grand Final Champions 2016!
Boonah U10 Gold won the West Zone Grand Final on Saturday 3 September making them Season Premiers as well as Grand Final Champions!
Congratulations to the team, Coach Damien, Asst Coach Ken, Manager Cathy and of course all the family supporters!
End of Season Break-up and Presentation
The Boonah Soccer Club annual break-up and presentation will be held on Sunday 11 September from 11.30am to 4.00pm.
Presentation begins 12.00 noon, lunch and rides from 1.00pm.

Futsal Sign-On 2016-2017 Summer Season
The Futsal sign-on for the 2016/2017 Summer Season will be held on Monday 5th Sept and Tuesday 13th Sept at the Boonah Sports Complex from 3:30pm – 6:00pm.
Note: no registrations will be accepted after 6pm 13 September
Age Groups:
- Junior 9-11 years old mixed
- Junior 12-14 years old mixed
- Open 15 years old + mixed (A and B Divisions)
Teams:
- Juniors have individual sign-on (Team placements – Max of 2 Players will be accepted)
- Opens have Individual or Team sign-On (Min of 8 Players – Min of 3 Females)
Fees:
- Juniors – $80
- Opens – $110
- No EFTPOS cash only at sign on. Bank Transfer option is preferred, more info at sign on.

Team Photo Day Tuesday 16 August
As previously notified our Club Team Photos have been booked with Whitehead Studios on the one afternoon Tuesday 16th August.
We have a very tight schedule to fit all our 14 teams into a two and a half hour timeslot, so everyone needs to be ready at least 15 minutes prior to each teams appointed time. Everyone needs to be in full team playing strip (club socks, shorts, soccer shoes & Team Jerseys).
If you can assist your team Manager & Coach to have your team ready & lined up in the positions they will stand in for the photo, to keep the whole process flowing.

PLEASE HELP!!!! Baked Goods Needed for Fundraiser
This weekend Saturday 6th August, the Club has a Fundraiser catering for a Cricket conference at the Sports Complex.
We are asking All Teams to please provide two plates each of bake goods to assist us. Baking can be dropped off to the canteen on the day. Your Team Manager will officiate for your team, if you can notify them of what you can bake, so we are not left short. Thanks everyone!
Mega Sportz Camp Award – Congratulations Cassie!
Cassie Milano received the ‘The Lana Harch Spirit of Excellence Award’ at the Mega Soccer Camp last week. Well done Cassie!

QCSA State Titles Success!
The QCSA State Titles were held at Redbank Plains on the Labour Day long weekend with quite a few of our players having the opportunity to play for West Zone teams. It was a great experience and we would like to congratulate all the Boonah players!

Anzac Day March Boonah
The Boonah Soccer Club is marching on Monday 25 April in the Boonah Anzac Day March, we hope you can join us.
If you would like to march, meet us on Church Street at the Indian Takeway at 10.30am ready for the march to start at 10.40am followed by the service (optional) at 11.00am.
Please wear BSC training shirt and blue shorts and club socks and follow the sun smart guidelines – hat & sunscreen.

2016 Regional Futsal Championships
West Moreton was crowned overall champions of the 2016 Regional Futsal competition held over the Easter weekend. Quite a few Boonah players were part of these teams – congratulations to all those players!

Working Bee Sunday 3 April
A working bee will be held this Sunday 3 April from 8.00am to get the fields ready for fixtures (starting on 16 April) and to cart gear from the BSC shed near the tennis courts to the club house.
If you can spare some time on Sunday to volunteer that would be much appreciated, see you there!

Meet Your Team Sunday 6 March
On Sunday 6 March at 12.00pm we will be holding a Muster Day / Meet your Team Day at Coronation Park.
At this muster you will meet your team mates, choose a Coach & Manager (if one has not already nominated for your team) and find out when training will be on. It is important that all players and at least one parent or caregiver attend this day.
There will be a BBQ lunch and drinks available at minimal cost.

U9/U10 Pre-Season Carnival 12 March
Following successful carnivals in 2014 and 2015, the QCSA has invited the Mega Sportz Soccer Camp (MSSC) staff and coaches to host an U9/U10 Pre-Season Carnival.
When: Saturday 12 March 2016. Each team that registers will be allocated a three hour time slot, between 8.00 am and 2.00 pm and will include two games.
Cost: Free! The club will cover the cost of the team registration.
Where: Lister Street, Sunnybank.
Special Features of the Carnival: There will be some live commentary, music, and even on-the-spot interviews with players/coaches and referees! The players will be made to feel like Superstars and have plenty of fun as well. Wherever possible, you will be playing other clubs’ teams than your own.
The Coach: Games will be 18 minutes a half and the coach will be allowed to be on the field to assist the players as they learn how to play on the full field.
How to Register: If your child would like to join in, please email Inge Moffatt at webmaster@boonahsoccerclub.org.au or call/SMS 0403 969 565 as soon as possible (they would like names by next week).
Note: Boonah will be given preference to a starting timeslot as we have to travel so please indicate if you would like an early start (8.00am) or a bit later (10.00am) and we will go with general consensus.
Hope to hear from all the U9 and U10 players. This will be a fun day, don’t miss out!
Coaches Needed for 2016 – Attend a Coaching Clinic
Are you thinking about coaching your child’s team this season? Coaching is a great way to get involved in a sport with your child, learn new skills and and get some exercise!
Coaches for the Boonah Soccer Club are usually parents/caregivers of players but can also be a relative, friend, senior player, or any member of the community. All that is required is a Club Membership and a Blue Card.

Kym & Kathy meet Natalie Cook
Our Registrar Kym and Secretary Kathy were fortunate to be invited to a sporting club forum at The Centre Beaudesert as representatives of the Boonah Soccer Club. They met Natalie Cook, the only Australian woman to go to the Olympics five times and even got to hold her gold medal from the Sydney 2000 Olympics!

Family Movie Night 23 May
The Boonah Soccer Club is hosting a movie night to help raise funds for the kids who are attending the Mega Soccer Sports Camp. Families and Kids are invited to attend the fully supervised screening of ‘The Penguins of Madagascar‘
Date: Saturday night 23rd of May
Location: It will be at the Boonah Showgrounds hall located in the Boonah Showgrounds,
Time: Food will be available from 6.00pm and the movie will start at 6:30pm.
Cost: It will be a gold coin entry fee.
Food: There will be a sausage sizzle, drinks, popcorn and lollies available for purchase on the night.
This event is open to everyone (not just BSC members), so please invite your friends and family, bring your blankets and pillows and join us for a fun night to help raise money for the kids.

Boonah vs Beaudesert Fri Night
Friday night entertainment and it’s free!
Come along to the Boonah Showgrounds this Fri night 27 March to watch a couple of friendly soccer matches between Beaudesert and Boonah:
6.00pm – Boonah U17/18 vs Beaudesert U17/18 jnr men
7.00pm – Boonah Over 30 vs Beaudesert Over 40 men
Our president Andrew, vice president Glen, a few of our coaches and other familiar Boonah faces are in the O30s team, so come along and cheer them on.
No need to cook Friday night, there will be food and drinks available from the canteen at family friendly prices.
Some of the menu items available:
– Steak Burger (roll, steak, onion, lettuce, tomato, beetroot)
– Hot Dog (roll, frankfurt, onion, cheese)
– Softdrinks
– Powerade/Gatorade
– Juice
– Bottled water

Meet your team Sat 21 March 11.00am
The meet and greet is on next Saturday, 21st March 2015 starting at 11am. Come and meet your team and catch up with your club. There will be a free sausage sizzle, and drinks for sale.
We would like to see all players, coaches, managers and at least one parent/carer on the day. If you are interested in helping out in any way this season please let us know. As we no longer have the Family Volunteer Levy we are hoping to have many different hands helping throughout the season.
Another way you can assist the club is to use the Ritchie’s IGA Community Benefit Card. Every time you spend money we receive their donations from the community benefit scheme. Apply in store today.

You can now register online for the 2015 soccer season. Information can be found on our online registration page.
2015 Season sign-on will take place on two days at the Boonah Sports Complex, Coronation Park:
- Saturday 31 January 9.00 – 12.00am
- Tuesday 3 February 3.30 – 5.00pm
(If you have signed up and paid online then you only need to come to one of the sign-on days if you are a new player so we can take your photo and sight your birth certificate)
